You’ve gone and bought yourself a Storm Surge Boat Lift. Sure, you have the greatest, over-built lift on the planet. However, just like the Golden Gate Bridge and the Eiffel Tower, maintenance is necessary to keep your boat lift operating smoothly and safely. Here is a quick checklist that, if followed, will improve your boating and waterfront living experience immensely.

Boat Lift’s Cables:

• Inspect all cables before each use.
• Rinse cables and rest of boat lift with fresh water after each use.
• Cable has a limited operating life. For saltwater applications, we recommend replacing your cable every 2-3 years.
• If signs of wear or damage appear, replace immediately.
• Boat Lift’s Motor and Gear Unit
• Keep worm gear, drive (bull) gear, and all bearings & bushings greased on a monthly basis.
• Make sure to grease all grease fittings on gear plate including fitting located between plate and large gear, on a regular basis.
• Make sure pulley belt is tightened.
• Check all set screws on bearings.

Boat Lift Pulleys:

• Inspect boat lift pulleys on a monthly basis for wear.
• Make sure all nuts and bolts are tight.
• Where applicable, grease on a monthly basis.

Boat Lift Bunks:

• Wood bunks or runners will need periodic replacement.
• Inspect for wear and rotting.
• The padding on aluminum boat lift bunks should be checked periodically for wear - replace if necessary.
